Taurus 2021 Yearly Horoscope Forecast

Communication and Working to Find New Methods to Solve Old Problems

TAURUSTaurus 2021 Review

In 2021 Pluto continues transiting your 9th house of education, higher learning and spirituality. This indicates immense changes taking place with your beliefs generally. This has been going on for some time. It intensifies especially after April 28 when that planet moves into its retrograde motion. A transformation is likely to take place throughout the year. This will lead you to take radical steps professionally.

The Sun and Mercury join Pluto on 5th and 15th of January respectively. This indicates you are intensely focused on educational or legal matters. New financial opportunities open up for you based upon your knowledge base. Some of these changes may be profound. They are also unanticipated due to the effect of Uranus in your Sun sign.

For many, these changes come on the heels of generational and cultural/social changes that have been happening throughout the past year or so. As an example, the economic downturn due to COVID was something that wasn’t in the control of the average person. More changes like this can be expected globally. It’s imperative for you to have a buffer to handle the ups and downs of life. Some of these events are not within your ability to change.

Notwithstanding the above, you are lucky this year. This is because of the transit of Jupiter in your 10th house of career and professional esteem. With this planet in a square aspect to Uranus, unexpected changes in your fortunes should be planned for. They are not necessarily bad. New directions in your career direction and also sudden moves by employers or business associates will astound you. This also has consequences for your finances as Jupiter aspects your 2nd house. This has to do with the efforts you make in your work and how well you are remunerated for that.

There are a couple of important lunar eclipses this year. One on May 26 and the other on November 19. They take place in Sagittarius and Taurus. The first eclipse is associated with your 8th house of shared resources, personal intimacy and deeper psychological issues. You’ll be working at clearing up many of these areas in your life throughout 2021. The 2nd eclipse takes place in your Sun sign. This is particularly important because this relates to your identity and how you present yourself to the world. You will want to make an impression this year. You may not muster up the courage to make those important ‘image changes’ until the latter part of 2021.

Speaking of eclipses, the solar eclipse on June 10 occurs in the Zodiac sign of Gemini. This eclipse points to financial matters. As mentioned above, the aspect of Jupiter coupled with this eclipse has connections with your 4th house, ruled by the Sun. This has to do with property matters, straightening up your domestic relationships and finding more peace within yourself.

Some of the big transits for 2021 involve the movement of Jupiter. On July 28 it moves to your career sector after going retrograde on June 21. You have been unfinished business associated with professional activities. You have an opportunity in the middle part of the year to set that right. On the very last couple of days of the year, Jupiter moves back into your 11th house of financial profits. It seems you’ll be spending much of 2021 ironing out some of the loose ends from the previous year, professionally speaking.

Saturn Moves to Aquarius

Saturn is your best planet next to your Sun sign ruler, Venus. Saturn is comfortable as it moves through its own sign of Aquarius. It does, however, make some difficult aspects I’m February 18, June 15 and December 24. All 3 of these aspects relate to Uranus. You’re torn between traditional roles and more progressive attitudes. You want to make a break with your past but these aspects are indeed very challenging.

Don’t be discouraged by brief disruptions occur. You could feel frustrated having to go over old work and revise things. This is all for the best because some of those old outdated methods will only serve to undermine your efforts moving forward.

Uranus is about breaking free of constraints. This planet powerfully influences your relationships by its opposite aspect. Therefore, you’ll be looking at ways to overcome a growing disinterest or some sort of instability in any relationship that seems to have gone past its use-by date.

The North node or Rahu as it’s called, has recently transited into your 2nd house of finance. This planet creates immense desire. You must be careful that those desires are within your reach. If you are aspiring to something which is unattainable this can be the source of great frustration. Generally, it can give some great success and material benefit. The downside is that this planet is often known to take back what it is given. Don’t waste what you earn, put aside a little for a rainy day and don’t expect everything to remain the same.

Neptune’s connection to the North node transit from your 11th house of social activities is also a challenge. You may be dreaming of how you want your relationships with friends to be. The reality will be far different from what is actually happening. You must also take care that you don’t put friends and new acquaintances on any sort of pedestal. People are people.

Don’t overlook others’ weaknesses. That will only expose your own weakness. That’s when you can be severely disappointed. Scrutinise friends and in particular, new people you meet throughout the coming year. Neptune is a spiritual planet and shows that you’re looking to connect with spiritually like-minded people. You’re looking for honesty, integrity and friends who can connect with you at the heart level.

Romance and Friendship

There is an element of rebelliousness in your nature this year. This is due to the transit of Neptune in your 11th house. It’s likely you will want to break free of your usual circle of friends in 2021. The year is punctuated by 2 important transits of Neptune. They are the stationary and direct motion of this planet. That takes place on June 26 when Neptune goes retrograde in Pisces.

That retrograde motion means you will be completely reevaluating your existing impasse friendships. You may not completely finish your ’audit’ until it goes direct on December 1. That gives you ample time to consider and reconsider who are friends and who are not. Who are the honest people in your tribe and who the ones simply using you? Remember, Neptune is associated with self-sacrifice, saving others, running to their rescue. The flip side is that it often means you end up the sacrificial victim.

The principal planet of marriage and romance for you is Mars. It starts the year off in your 12th house, a rather low key area. It quickly moves to your Sun sign on January 7 but by January 13 makes it difficult right angle aspect to Saturn. Your frustrations will be notable at this time. There’s no point pushing harder to achieve your romantic goals. Your efforts will only meet resistance. You will have to find a different way to bring your spouse or partner around.

You will find yourself exhibiting a lot of self-control but by January 21 the conjunction of Mars to Uranus could be explosive. If you’ve been bottling up your feelings you won’t be holding back any more. This is a critical time when you may say or do things that you will regret later.

The additional square of Jupiter on the 23rd, very close to the date of the square to Uranus, adds fuel to the fire. It makes you excessive in every single way. You want to expand, grow and express your love. That may not all be how your partner wants things to move, at least not as quickly as you. You’re going to have to slow your pace, adjust to the needs of others and here’s the kicker, compromise.

Friendships hit the top of your agenda

Friendships hit the top of your agenda after February 18 when the Sun and Venus, on the 25th and the 11th house. You’ll be busily engaged in making contact with your existing group of friends. There are opportunities to expand your circle of influence and network into new and unusual areas. That’s also got to do with the transit of Uranus in your Sun sign. Anything new and quirky will appeal to you now.

The 5th house of your horoscope is primarily concerned with creativity and love. Venus enters this area of your horoscope on July 22. Mars is not far off its heels on July 30. This is the hot, passionate combo that really stimulates love emotionally and physically. You need to express yourself sensually. You’ll find your partner just as hot and sexy.

While Venus is transiting your 5th house you must be careful not to be overly excessive. You could overvalue friendships and this may embarrass you. You might be so excited, sharing your newfound love only to find that it’s short-lived. Be careful not to jump the gun. It’s likely you’ll be burning the candle at both ends while Venus makes an opposition aspect to Jupiter. This takes place leading up to July 22.

In the latter part of July and August, you may need to temporarily take your mind of social activities and refocus attention on work. The transit of Mercury to Mars around August 19 cautions you against saying too much. Silence is golden. Nothing you say will appease your partner.

Arguments are likely around this time of the year. By August 23, there will be a more peaceful atmosphere as far as your romantic life is concerned. That may be a rather cool emotional peace, unfortunately. You may just have to stay out of each other’s way for a while. Doing your own thing gives you an opportunity to collect your energies again.

The opposition of Venus to Neptune is also a concern around August 10. This is an extension of the Venus-Jupiter opposition. Leading up to August 10 you will be extremely impressionable. Don’t believe everything you see and hear. Looks can be very deceiving.

In August Mercury and the Sun also make their way through your 5th house as well. This is a wonderful period of the year to continue along those creative lines with your lover. Set aside time to enjoy some hobby or activity together. Get out and play sport and enjoy some friendly competitive recreation. It’s a perfect time to put work on concepts you’ve had on the backburner.  Devote some loving time to the one you consider your soulmate. For those who are single, this is an excellent omen. The forge new relationships. Soulmates are likely to come out of the woodwork.

On September 11 Venus moves the 7th house and this brings in a beautiful calm and loving energy to your relationships. This is also a creative period when you and your partner can enjoy our, beauty and intimate moments together. This is a harmonious period and one in which you should consolidate and build upon your relationship.

With the Sun transiting your 7th house on October 23 and Mars on October 31, expect fire and brimstone to be part of your relationship interactions. Fortunately for the entry of Mercury on November 6, you’ll be able to communicate your way to some sort of truce. Keeping your emotions under control is going to be a challenge for you throughout this period of the year.

Mercury’s aspect to Jupiter around November 1 is a perfect transit to foster better communication. Don’t be too intense however as the square aspect on the 2nd to Pluto could irritate others. Your passion is not everyone else’s passion.

Travel is on the Cards

Venus moves to the 9th house on November 5 while Mercury transits your 7th house of love at the same time. Travel is on the cards and this is an excellent time to get away from the hustle and bustle of your daily routine life. Share that with the one you love, explore the world and enrich yourselves as a couple. For those of you single, this could be a time when you meet someone while you are in transit.

You are likely to be impulsive around November 18 when Mars opposes Uranus and Mercury, the Sun. Mars also opposes the Sun on November 28 even though Venus trines the Sun on the 29th. These are high-powered aspects which require some sort of physical outlet. You need to sweat, drive yourself and redirect your anxious into useful activities. This is all about better self-management.

The cherry on top of the cake called 2021 is Jupiter’s transit again into your 11th house on December 29. On the same day, Mercury makes conjunction with Neptune. These are all auspicious aspects indicating a beautiful ending romantically for the year.

Career and Finance

There’s something fated about your finances and business this year. The North node or karmic point is now making its way through your earnings sector. This is significant in that it only happens once every 18 years. You may have felt similar things happening many years back which are now coming full circle.

The opposing point, the South Node is in the area of shared resources. It’s interesting to note that Venus, your ruling planet is in close proximity to this South node. The transits take place in the 8th house which has to do with the money you share with others, the power you gain from how you pool your resources.

There may be some big lessons to be learned in the area of money. More importantly, this has to do with your value system and what it is you actually do for money. Are you doing what you love? This is an important question/theme that’s often repeated when people are looking for meaning in their lives.

With the square aspect of Neptune to these nodes, at the outset of 2021, you may be either too idealistic about what’s possible financially or completely and utterly confused. This year is about sifting through and eliminating those things that are holding you back. You want financial security but as mentioned at the outset of the reading, you may be fearful of breaking ties with the past.

Bad habits that obstruct your financial independence must be eliminated. This is one of the big challenges for you in the coming 12 months. An example of a bad habit is continually purchasing cheap goods. Initially, you feel that you are saving money. It’s only when the item breaks down or has to be replaced or serviced over and over again that you realise just how expensive those goods are. The concept of economising, or rather, not economising, may be part of your lesson during this cycle.

Mars makes its way into your financial sector on March 4. You are driven to earn money that may have some personal deadlines that you have created. Don’t kill yourself in the process. On May 4 Mercury, the mercantile planet, gives quick profits and turnover transiting through your 2nd house. Just a little after, on May 9, Venus, your ruler pushes you to earn more as it also makes its way into this sector.

Whatever you earn should be carefully managed

Don’t let money burn a hole in your pocket when the Sun follows suit on May 21. Whatever you earn should be carefully managed. Put aside a percentage of what you earn every week that you can build up your bank balance. New contracts are likely to come your way after April 23 when Mars transits your 3rd house. It’s an opportunity to improve your position at work or any business partnership.

Real estate and property become a focus on June 11, June 27 and again on July 28 when Mars, Venus and Mercury transit your 4th house of assets. Speculation is likely to take place when Mars transits your 5th house on July 30. You’re prone to be risky and need to seek advice before spending good money after bad.

Manager debts better in August. You have a chance to get your accounts back into the black. Venus transits your 6th house on August 16 and Mercury on August 30. There could be disputes with co-workers or over finances when Mars enters the 6th house on September 15.

Banking, finance and insurance matters take priority in the last part of the year. Mars enters your 8th house on December 13 shortly after Mercury on November 25. Talk to your bank manager about a better deal and work on saving more for that rainy day. You should be on top you of your finances as the year comes to a close.

Karma Luck and Spirituality

As mentioned in your finance reading, income and material values are an important lesson for you throughout 2021. That is also augmented by the transit of Jupiter in your 10th and 11th houses throughout the coming 12 months. Jupiter is the spiritual planet and shows where you can expand but at the same time find some spiritual value in what you do.

Spiritualising your work simply means paying more attention and enjoying what you do. It’s important to transition out of work that makes you feel like you are some sort of prisoner. These constraints are also shown by the transit of Saturn which continues in your 10th house of professional activities. You may feel as if someone in a position of authority has clipped your wings. You’re able to fly, to express yourself creatively in the job that you may have been doing for years.

You can make some headway in your self-development and spiritual discipline when Venus, your ruler, moves through the 9th house. That happens on January 9 and again on November 5. These are times where you will feel lifted up in your search for deeper meaning in your life.

Finding deeper meaning might mean stepping out of your normal routine

The 12th house is also a key spiritual house. Finding deeper meaning might mean stepping out of your normal routine. Find some sanctuary or going on a spiritual retreat is a good idea. March 20 with the Sun enters the 12th house, my 22 when Venus does the same and then on April for with Mercury joining the other duo. In other words, you can see an uplift in your spiritual activities particularly in the 2nd and last quarters of 2021.

Aries 2021 Yearly Horoscope Forecast

Aries 2021 Overview

After months of things seemingly going backwards, your ruler, Mars is now moving into direct motion. You have a lot more confidence as the New Year starts. Your physical energy and drive are notable. You have a new lease on life. The other reason for this is its powerful transit through your Sun sign.

Pluto continues transiting your 10th house of profession indicating immense changes taking place in your career. This has been going on for some time and intensifies especially after April 28 when it moves into its retrograde motion. A transformation is likely to take place throughout the year leading you to take radical steps professionally.

In particular, the earlier part of the year should be a prominent one with the Sun and Mercury also joining Pluto on 5th and 15th of January respectively. This indicates further opportunities in your career with the likelihood of some sort of promotion or at least new doors opening for you. Some of these changes may be profound but also unanticipated due to the effect of Uranus in your 2nd house of finance.

For many, these changes come on the heels of generational and cultural/social changes that have been happening throughout the past year or so. As an example, the economic downturn due to COVID was something that was not in the control of the average person. More changes like this can be expected globally. It’s imperative for you to have a buffer to handle the ups and downs of life. Some of these events are not within your ability to change.

Luck and Jupiter’s 11th house transit

You’re lucky this year and this is because of the transit of Jupiter in your 11th house of friendships and life fulfilment. With this planet in a square aspect to Uranus, unexpected changes in your fortunes should be planned for. New directions in your social life and also sudden moves by business friends or business associates will astound you. This may also have consequences in your professional arena as Jupiter the 11th house has to do with the profits you earn from business and the efforts you make in your work generally.

Lunar eclipses on May 26 and November 19 take place in Sagittarius and Taurus respectively. The first one relates to your learning, your higher mind and spiritual endeavours. The 2nd one later in the year is more concerned with finance and your earning capacity. These two periods are very important and will punctuate 2021 in a big way.

A solar eclipse occurs on June 10 in Gemini. This eclipse will redefine your identity and has a great deal to say about your intellectual pursuits. It’s also a notable astrological event which impacts your relationships. This is because communication is the cornerstone of any great relationship. Another solar eclipse takes place right at the tail end of the year on December for stop again this occurs in the sign of Sagittarius. This sector relates to your partner’s communication style. By setting the pace earlier in the year, you get the good karma of your spouse or partner following suit.

It focuses your attention on much more serious matters and your lifelong spiritual goals. It has a marked impact on your philanthropic and charitable nature. You will be drawn to helping others.

Jupiter retrograde

Jupiter makes a retrograde station on June 21 and this empowers your luck planet. See more on the segment on karma luck and spirituality further below. You will realise that you’ve possibly attached to much importance to your own self-development and spiritual methodology. The retrograde planet continues till October 18 and then moves into its direct motion. During the retrograde cycle, you may wish to reconnect with friends and loved ones and give them a little more time and attention.

Saturn has a fresh start in 2021 by transiting through its comfortable sign of Aquarius in your 11th house. This is the commencement of a 2 ½ year cycle and along with Jupiter, promises some very important developments in your social life. The 11th house also has to do with siblings, especially elder siblings if you have one. There may be some notable events taking place in that person’s life and you will need to be part of that. Reconnecting in establishing your deeper bonds of affection are on the cards.

Jupiter, Saturn also has some important retrograde and forward transits this year. On May 23, it moves into retrograde motion further strengthening its hold on your sibling relationships, social networking and other important desires you may have. The 11th house is also the house of desire. There may be some setbacks, unexpected obstacles and challenges to getting these relationships and desires back on track. Fortunately, these transits don’t last forever and October 11, Saturn also moves back into its normal motion bringing some resolution to these issues.

Your ruling planet Mars makes some important transit across your 4th house and 7th house throughout this year. The 4th house is your domestic sphere and also your internal happiness. Your 7th house is your marital affairs, those most important and heartfelt relationships. With Mars transiting these areas on April 23 and September 15 respectively, expect these points of the year to be quite significant. Personal affairs will drive you more than anything else at these times.

As the year closes, Saturn will bring with it a greater sense of responsibility, especially regarding your value system and money affairs. Your finances will be challenged by the square aspect of Saturn to Uranus. Although it may appear that this is a much more serious cycle, you’ll be happy to approach it with a can-do attitude. With greater responsibility, come better opportunities as well. If you prove to others that you’re up to the task and can do it with a progressive attitude, these challenging celestial events will work in your favour.

Communication and Working to Find New Methods to Solve Old ProblemsRomance and friendship

Friendship is high on your agenda this year with Jupiter transiting your 11th house. You should make hay while the Sun shines. It will pass out of the 11 that into the lower-key 12th house of your horoscope on May 14. Thereafter you’ll be getting down to the serious business of deeper self-reflection, hidden relationship problems and even matters of intimacy.

The 12th house is not often regarded as a sexual house, in the Hindu Vedic astrological system, the 12th house is particularly notable for its impact on sexuality. Generally, any sort of relationships such as marriage or de facto partnerships will come under some influence throughout this transit.

Venus enters a positive relationship phase when it enters your 11th house on February 2. This is a perfect time to spend time with friends and those you consider your social ‘tribe ‘. With the connection to Saturn on February 6, there may be a build-up of suppressed energy. You must communicate with your loved one to avoid any long-term negative ramifications.

Communication and greater personal appeal

Communicative Mercury makes a lovely connection with Venus on February 13 opening the way for a new dialogue with your loved one. Venus is your principal planet of love in that it rules your 7th house. A greater appeal can be expected through the conjunction of Sun and Venus on March 26. You will appear bright and sexually seductive to others. Mercury again makes contact with Venus on April 26 and on May 29. This could be a continuation of discussions that are necessary to smooth over any relationship troubles that you’re having.

If you’re single you must be careful not to overstep the bounds of good taste stop that’s when Mars and Venus move into the square aspect on February 20. Maintain your reputation and if your instincts tell you to stay away from someone, do so.

Venus transiting through your 12th house on February 25 and making important conjunction too idealistic Neptune on March 14 means that this period and the feelings you experience, should be balanced judiciously with some reason. It’s easy to get carried away and believe that someone is far more beautiful than they really are. You could come crashing back down to earth.

This transit of Venus to your 12th house of privacy and spirituality indicates a more low-key period for your relationships and during the interval of February 25 and March 22. It’s an ideal time to remain out of the spotlight and to gather your energies, speak intimately with your partner and reconfirm your goals together. If some of you are single, this is an ideal time to travel and enjoy an intimate moment or two with your loved one away from your usual stomping ground.

Greater confidence in good looks

On March 22, Venus transiting your Sun sign is an excellent bolster to your self-confidence and good looks. You feel and look great and others will take notice of you. You must be careful not to become too self-obsessed as Venus makes a square to Pluto on April 12. The square to Pluto along with the conjunction to Uranus makes you flighty, desirous of new and exciting people. You may be unpredictable in your action and the people you attract might be just as unpredictable. Be careful to make rational assessments of others.

Venus again squares Neptune on May 28. Although you may smooth over some problems and feel that your relationships are becoming more concrete and stable, you’re still wearing rose coloured glasses. You may not want to see the problems that are there. Simply glossing over deeper emotional issues is really just kicking the can down the road. Address whatever issues need to be looked at.

Venus transits transit your fourth house of domestic affairs on June 2. This is a significant transit converging all your energies on family affairs and bringing to the fore issues of long-term relationships with relatives, especially on the maternal side. Try to maintain some fun at home as being overly serious could bring the overall mood of your family down. It’s important the reciprocate joy and affection otherwise you lose the spontaneity that is necessary to keep the relationship alive and happy.

Around the same time take care not to speak about things that you know are going to irritate others when Mars transits your fifth house of love affairs. It opposes Saturn in your 11th house of friendships on July 1. You may not agree with everything others say but that doesn’t mean you have to steamroll them when they don’t have the same opinions as you. You may also feel frustrated for the time being. You may want to take a relationship further feel stonewalled.

Love in the workplace

Venus transits your sixth house of health on July 30 indicating problems with the well-being of a partner or maybe even the well-being of the relationship itself. This could be a time when you need to offer selfless service to the one you love without too much thought of expectation and return. You may also end up doing some work together and this will also test your endurance as a couple. For those of you that are single meeting, someone in your workplace or through work-related activities is a possibility.

New love opportunities arise around August 3 when Venus trines Uranus. You want something exciting and out of the ordinary. At the same time be careful to remind yourself that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Impulsive actions result in adverse consequences. Fortunately, you are able to revive your love and find someone worthwhile. If you’re single, when Venus transits your seventh house of August 16, you also experience some new opportunity in your love life. For those established in a relationship, this could take your Love to the next level.

There are some very important ‘intimacy‘ transits forming, especially later in the year. Venus transits your 8th house of September 11, the Sun on October 23, Mars, the planet of sexuality on October 31 and Mercury, the final transit on November 6. All these periods have to do with deeper connections and commitment to the one you love.
Understanding and accepting your sexuality are keys to deepening your love. These cycles are likely to be full of deeper emotional and sexual opportunities which can be used to regenerate your relationship. It seems as if the last part of the year is really going to take off intimately speaking.

Career and finance

Uranus continues to teach you major lessons about finance and doing business. Your income is under the jurisdiction now of this unpredictable planet. Uranus is making its way through your 2nd house and will continue in this area for some time.

Mars makes contact with Uranus on January 7 and this makes you somewhat unreliable, if not explosive over money matters. You must keep a level head even if things seem to be spiralling out of control in the early part of the year. And Uranus undergoes its retrograde transition after August 20 and this will continue till the end of the year. This means that you may have to retrace your steps and rectify some of the decisions you’ve made on financial matters.

Venus is welcome in your 2nd house and its transit takes place on April 15. Mercury is a clever twist to the Venus influence on April 19. These are lucky transits which can enhance your earning capacity. It also gives you a quick turnover if you happen to be running an independent business. This is also an aesthetic influence of what you do will be pampered with artistic and creative input on your part.

The drive to earn

The Sun transits your second house of income on May 21. You are driven to earn more money but must be careful to think things through very carefully. This is because Mercury squares Neptune on May 23. This makes you more likely to overlook the obvious. It’s a deceptive aspect see must be extremely cautious when negotiating with others, dealing with money and generally making decisions when your mind is not clear and in full possession of the facts. You might be impatient as things are moving as quickly as you would like.

June and July will be exciting months because you will be somewhat speculative in your handling of money matters. Mars, Venus, the Sun and Mercury all transit this area between June 11 and July 28. These months are particularly important for researching what areas you can invest your money in. The stock-market, annuities, bonds or even new business enterprises will be carefully looked at.

Squaring off debts will be important after July 22 when Venus transits your 6th house. Mars enters on July 30 with Mercury and the Sun following suit on August 12 and August 23 respectively. The sixth house also relates to your work activities. You will be driven to work really hard with Mars transiting this area of your horoscope.

You need to reason your schedules out more carefully and to see how they are impacting upon your personal life and this can be done on September 10 when Mercury also transits the same position. Venus transiting your sixth house of September 20 cautions you to be careful with your expenditures as debts may mount considerably.

You can expect an improved state of affairs with your business partnerships in the latter part of the year. They are likely to take place with the simultaneous transit of Venus and Mars into your seventh house. That will take place between August 16 and September 15 respectively.

Avoid hasty business decisions

It’s unwise to make hasty decisions during this period however as Mercury is opposite Uranus on August 20. It is also in the same position on November 14. During this cycle any sort of communication, letter writing or contractual opportunities need to be monitored carefully. Think twice before sending notices or complaints and impulsive or angry state of mind. Take care of tax matters especially when the Sun moves through your eighth house on October 23.

You can expect some brilliant opportunities for professional success and promotion in the last couple of months of 2021. Venus moves to your 10th house on November 5 with Mercury and the Sun adding weight to this forecast in mid-December. All good things come for those that wait.

Karma luck and spirituality

Some of your most important lessons this year, centre on clearing up your past. Resolving issues that have plagued you for years can clean your life slate. These effects are accentuated around May 14 when Jupiter enters your 12th house of spiritual insight. This is accentuated around June 21 when Jupiter moves into its retrograde cycle. Some spiritual epiphany may occur at this time due.

Your insights will be enhanced by the degree to which you’re able to remain alone and in contact with the inner messages you receive. It’s not a well-known principle, but the 12th house also relates to changes in residence or travels. Jupiter at this time could bring you an opportunity to travel to meet with someone who reveals a deeper and more spiritual dimension of your life. This may be a guru or mentor of sorts.

Well-being is connected to the people that you associate with

The North node or karma point transits your 3rd house of communication this year. Your well-being is connected to the people that you associate with. It’s about developing your own style of thinking and expression. The 3rd house is about your mind. It’s also about the desires you foster. Knowing what desires will help in which will hinder you in your search for happiness, is critical.

Saturn transits your 11th house of life fulfilment. It indicates that you’re be going through a period of a challenge with friends. Life may also be obstructive in giving you what you want immediately. You are experiencing the results of some poor decisions in your past. This is particularly connected to the type of company that you’ve had. This means that the belief systems and self-awareness level of some friends have not helped you.

Saturn will indeed transit through this sector of your horoscope for at least 2 ½ years. If you’re up to the challenge of stepping away from unhealthy relationships, your karma and spiritual development will skyrocket.

Symbols and Celebrations of Motherhood

Symbols & Celebrations of Motherhood

That time of year has come when we celebrate motherhood, honouring the role mothers play in our lives and in the human story, and the qualities associated with motherhood. It’s a time to celebrate the feminine principle and recognize the unique biological role of the mother and how this connects with our cultural conception of femininity. The mother plays a unique physiological role in nurturing a child during pregnancy, and this nurturing role and uniquely close bond naturally tends to play out beyond the birth of the child and through their infancy. The bond between a mother and child is the stuff of legends.

Mother’s Day Special HERE

While the modern Mother’s Day holiday can be traced back to anti-war activists in the late 19th century USA, motherhood and its associated qualities have been celebrated across cultures throughout recorded history. This year, Americans are estimated to spend $25 billion over the Mother’s Day celebration. While capitalism may enjoy this phenomenon, it did not create it as the role of this holiday in our culture traces back far deeper into our history. It reveals something of our deeper nature that we feel a collective desire to show gratitude and reverence for mothers, motherhood and those associated nurturing qualities.

The qualities associated with motherhood and femininity include compassion, unconditional love, empathy and a desire to nurture and protect. These are not only qualities of mothers but aspects of ourselves that we express and experience in our personal relationships and life generally. We can also see these principles in action at different conceptual levels. For instance, we see the nurturing aspect of a community towards its members. For this reason, cultures throughout history have abstracted out the principles associated with motherhood and femininity. They have encapsulated them in deities or symbols which can then be used to explore and discuss the ideas, to educate and guide spiritual development.

There is a rich cultural tradition of associating femininity with water. The physical properties and behaviour of water can be seen to symbolically mirror the accepting, receptive and total embrace of the mother. Along with many traditional reasons for this connection, modern science even indicates to us that the ocean may be a mother to all life on earth and that our own evolutionary heritage comes from ocean life. This fits nicely with the existing symbolic framework and only serves to strengthen and enrich it.

This symbolic connection is an important one in the astrological tradition, where the Moon is associated with water and the feminine principle. The water sign of Cancer is seen to strongly embody the nurturing qualities of motherhood. We look at water and the qualities associated with femininity when symbolically breaking down a chart to form our interpretation. In the same way, we look at the other elements and the qualities associated with the masculine principle, such as assertiveness and intellect.

yin and yangThe purpose of making a symbolic distinction between the archetypes of masculine and feminine is not to assign one to men and the other to women. Instead, the two principles are seen as a duality, two halves of a whole which contrast and balance one another. This is the Yin and Yang of Taoism. Every individual embodies within themselves and their actions the qualities that both of these principles symbolise. We express some degree of balance between the two in every conceivable context. Examples of that are between thought and emotion, intellect and imagination, assertion and submission, resistance and acceptance, boundaries and openness.

The masculine and feminine principles are not just symbolic categories relating to people, but qualities that permeate nature. The feminine, for example, is a symbolic thread that we can follow through a range of diverse territory, from fluid dynamics, gravity and magnetism, to human emotion and compassion. By recognising these archetypal structures and ideas within ourselves and also in nature we can use this symbolic language to apply these principles we discover in nature, to ourselves. We are able to apply insights about how things find balance in nature to our own personal development and behaviour. The many cultural and religious symbols of these principles exist not only to acknowledge their existence but also to help orient us towards manifesting them in a healthy and balanced way. Ultimately, everything is about balance. Water is essential to our survival, but with too much of it, we can drown.

cup pagan Christianity symbol

In paganism, the rich symbolism of water is encapsulated in the image of the Cup. A cup can be seen to resemble a womb, and so the cup was used to represent fertility, gestation and intuition, among other qualities associated with the feminine in pagan cultures. This symbolic thread continued, though somewhat evolved into Christianity as the chalice holding the blood of Christ. Some branches of Christianity also deify the feminine and motherly principles in their reverence for Mother Mary, the mother of Christ. From another cultural vantage point, this may take the form of reverence for the goddess Sophia. She is more commonly represented in modern times as Gaia or Mother Earth. Our beautiful planet and the life it has cultivated is a mother that we all share, and should all have reverence for.

A day like Mother’s Day invites us to focus on love, to give attention to these aspects of life and show our gratitude to the women in our lives who embody them. Mother’s Day invites us above all to be loving and remember the nurturing and healing power that sharing our love with others has both for others and for ourselves. Mother’s Day reminds us to value our family bonds and to put into words every once in a while that love and respect which can easily go unspoken.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Astrology in Different Cultures

When things go wrong in your life, you might reckon that it could be because of the bad choices you make. But when random things happen to you without you lifting any finger, then you think there might be mysterious forces in the universe that conspired to make them happen.

This, perhaps, is the simplest way to describe what astrology refers to. But in reality, astrology is an interestingly complex subject that also influences cultural groups in many different ways.

In this post, we’ll take a look at astrology as practiced in three different cultures around the world.

Astrology in different cultures

Western Astrology

For those in Western countries, this is probably the most popular form of astrology, as you can read it in horoscopes published in newspapers and magazine columns. Its focus is on sun signs, which gives it a rather tip-of-the-iceberg nature since it only represents a small fraction of the full astrology chart.

Historically, Western astrology goes as far back as 2300 BC, starting in ancient Mesopotamia and making its way into ancient Greece around 600 BC. However, it was during the period of Hellenistic culture when the study, development, and acceptance of astrology became widespread with the concepts of horoscopes and zodiacs, as we know them today, being introduced at the time.

Core Principles

The central principle of Western astrology is integration within the cosmos. To help you better understand it, you need to be familiar with the other core principles and main terminologies associated with Western astrology.

  • The individual, Earth, and its environment represent a single organism with parts that are correlated with each other.
  • When an individual and the Earth undergo cycles of change, you can expect that the same cycles of change are observed in the heavens as well. This is the idea that the maxim “as above so below” expresses.
  • The sun, moon, and planets journey across the sky through a band of constellations called the zodiac.
  • The zodiac has 12 signs representing the same number of constellations through which the sun passes for the whole duration of the year. Each of these 12 signs corresponds to a basic personality type based on what elements (fire, earth, air, and water) and modes (cardinal, fixed, and mutable) comprise them.

Zodiac Signs

Looking at the chart below, you will see that the 12 signs of the zodiac are further divided into a corresponding house, with Aries in the first house, and ruling planets to determine its energy.

In a nutshell, Western astrology can help you identify a sign by understanding the house, planet, god, element, mode, and polarity associated with it. Thus, you would come across personality tests that are based on astrological symbols and the meanings they represent.

Chinese Astrology

We all know China as the birthplace of some of the most popular schools of thought such as Confucianism and Taoism, but did you know that astrology is also one of its major contributions to mankind?

Chinese astrology is based on and tied to astronomy—the study of the positions, motions, and properties of objects in the universe, which flourished during the Han Dynasty.

Aside from being closely related to Chinese philosophy, Chinese astrology also takes a lot of elements such as traditional Chinese astronomy and calendars which are concepts not found in Western astrology—making it a very comprehensive form of astrology.

Core Principles

  • The theory of the harmony between heaven, earth, and water is the guiding principle behind Chinese astrology. It is also based on the principles of yin and yang, the complementary forces in nature, and other concepts not found in Western astrology such as the lunisolar calendar.
  • Chinese astrology takes into account the position of the major planets, sun, moon, and comets at the time one is born, as well as the zodiac sign to determine that person’s destiny. Modern-day Chinese astrology also believes in computing a person’s fate based on birthday, birth season, and birth hours.
  • The Chinese lunar (also called lunisolar) calendar is a major component of Chinese astrology. The start of each lunar year depends on the cycles of the moon’s phases, which is in contrast to the solar calendar being used in the West whose annual cycles are based only directly upon the solar year.
  • The Chinese zodiac follows a 12-year lunar cycle, with the year in which you were born determines your sign.
  • Each sign is represented by one of 12 animals, which is believed to be chosen by Buddha to honor them for visiting him just before he died. Each sign is also assigned a set of attributes based on the nature of their animal counterpart.

Each of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac appears in the Chinese calendar in a cycle of 12 years following this order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

Thanks to the influence of Chinese astrology, the calendar was invented to help people organize their life and establish laws that are in harmony with the world.

The Chinese zodiac is also significant since the signs have helped the Chinese mark or date years according to the 12-cycle period being followed in the Chinese calendar.

Vedic Astrology

Do you believe in the saying “What goes around comes around?” Such is the essence of karma or the belief that whatever you do, whether good or bad, comes back to you.

The subject of karma also implies that what you do is based on your motive or intention, with corresponding repercussions or outcomes, of course.

Whether or not you believe in karma, it’s one of the elements that heavily influence Indian or Vedic astrology, which is a popular concept in the modern age.

Vedic astrology is an astrological system that was developed in India 4000 to 6000 years ago and follows the principles and practice of the Hindu religion. Also known as Jyotisa, which translates to “light,” Vedic astrology focuses on astral patterns of light and how those patterns influence the destiny or Dharma of humans.

Like Western astrology, Vedic astrology uses the 12 signs of the zodiac, although the two differ in the way their calendars relate to the signs.

Core Principles

  • Vedic culture views nature with three primary attributes and humans with four legitimate motivations.

Attribute 1: Rajas – pertains to passion and activity

Attribute 2: Tamas – pertains to darkness and chaos

Attribute 3: Sattva – pertains to harmony and goodness

Motivation 1: Dharma – the performance of meaningful work

Motivation 2: Artha – the acquisition of wealth and material security

Motivation 3: Kama – the desire for emotional and sensual enjoyment

Motivation 4: Moksha – spiritual liberation and enlightenment

  • The Indian philosophy asserts that the three attributes in nature exist in everyone and everything, but in different proportions and contexts.

Human beings and living things are said to be the sum of all these three qualities.

  • There’s a hierarchy of life goals in Vedic science such that the first three motivations can never supersede the fourth one, meaning a life with no spiritual liberation is considered to be insignificant no matter how successful, wealthy, or happy you are.

An honorable life in Vedic astrological tradition is one that’s based on the doctrine of karma.

The 12 Signs of the Zodiac Based on Their Attributes and Motivations

Zodiac Attributes

While other forms of astrology are often dismissed as pseudoscience, Vedic astrology is hailed to maintain a “scientific” prevalence in modern India.

Many Indians take astrological advice at face value. In fact, some Indian universities offer advanced degrees in astrology.

Although the credibility of astrology, in general, is still up for debate, there’s no doubt that astrology holds an important place in certain cultures all over the world. Learning about the relevance of astrology to different cultures allows us to keep an open mind and gain a better understanding of our interconnectedness with the universe – and with one another.
