This week, we had the opportunity to interview Dadhichi M. Toth, Founder and CEO of astrology.com.au, one of the best astrology websites on the internet. Dadhichi spoke about his beginnings, and how his approach to astrology is different from what the competition has to offer.

What was the inspiration for founding your company?

Dadhichi Toth: It all started when I was 8 years old – My mother would tell me stories about Linda Goodman, a famous astrologer from the 1960s. My mother was very interested in astrology, and my bed stories were all about Leo, Virgo, and the other star signs so I really started to gain interest in astrology. In more recent times, around 30 years ago, I had the honor of meeting the great professor Ramakrishna Sarathy from India, who was a brilliant astrologer. He was truly gifted, and I spent quite a few years trying to get him to teach me and share his knowledge with me. It took me around 6-7 years of his visiting Australia, for him to realize I was an avid student of Vedic Astrology. He finally agreed to start teaching me.

In these times of fear and mental imbalance and uncertainty, finding peace through meditative practices can be a great source of peace.

Here I am reproducing an article I wrote almost 20 years ago. I think it’s appropriate given the Coronavirus and what’s happening. These practices not only still the mind and bring peace but can have a very positive impact on physical well-being.

In modern times, the Beatles, Taylor Swift, and Coldplay and other great bands have been able to do the same thing. What is it precisely in these sounds that move your heart and emotions? How is it possible the music to bring tears to your eyes or a smile to your face even if you’re feeling down?

The power of sound or vibration is irrefutable. In some instances it can be used to smash a wine glass, even demolish a building. In your spiritual endeavour too, sound is as part of an ancient tradition through which the inner worlds are revealed. Personal growth and transformation may be accelerated. Within this context of self-regeneration, healing and spiritual evolution, the use of sound and other vibrational techniques is termed Mantra Yoga.

No one doubts the power of speech and sound. One insulting word can push an otherwise ‘balanced’ person’s blood to boiling point.

Speech conjures up images and concepts

It’s through the power of thought, fuelled by inspiration and imagination that inventions and scientific discoveries are manifest in the natural world too. This process of sound, linguistics and its expression has a fourfold process. In its first manifestation, it occurs in an undifferentiated state – or the intentional sphere. This is the formative arena in which an idea begins to take shape.

It is only at the second level that we begin to attach a visual connection as to what the idea ‘is’. At the third level we mentally verbalise or connect a word to the visual image or concept. Finally, at the fourth level, we actually articulate the word referring to the idea.

Vedic Philosophy has clearly outlined these four levels of sound manifestation and regards the whole study as an exact science.

These four levels are referred to as

Paravak the undifferentiated state – or first impulse towards though
Pasyanti or that first mental impulse
Madhyami is intermediary speech or attachment of speech mentally
Vaikari articulated sounds or manifest speech

The concept of the ‘word’‘ as revealed in Veda and other religious and philosophical doctrines, reflects these four levels of manifestation in the accounts of creation. We find this idea in the Hebrew Genesis – ‘In the beginning was the word…’

This ‘word’ naturally reflects the idea of sound or the creative level at its most primal source, hinting at a stage beyond even Para Vak – a ‘supra’ undifferentiated mode or the Supreme Being Itself. It is a mode of Abstract Knowledge.

Yoga, Vedanta and other forms of spiritual practice are methods by which the practitioner can trace the path back to its original source and realise that the Divine Undifferentiated State of Oneness. Hence Mantra Yoga is a most powerful technique in realising that state beyond the Beyond. The ‘word’ is, in fact, the first articulation of sound or creation and is termed AUM.

There is often a misconception that AUM is that Supreme Being; however it is clear from a reputed spiritual authority and scholars of Vedanta that..

“AUM is only the symbol for the Eternal Being”.

Hence, Mantra Yoga is a most powerful technique in realising that state beyond the Beyond. The ‘word’ is, in fact, the first articulation of sound or creation and is termed AUM.

Aum (or in Hebrew/Christian tradition, AMEN ) is that primal sound from which all language and creation emerge. Time – past, present and future are contained within it. All alphabetical sounds are represented and encompassed by it. The ‘A’ is guttural, ‘U’ is labial and ‘M’ nasal in articulation – all three being the absolute physical parameters of any possibility of speech and sound.

This AUM, is the substratum of all sound and vibrational possibility, is called the Pranava Mantra. It is a great liberating vibration and the study and practice of its sound and inner meaning is a great meditation in itself.

The Mantra AUM is also called Taraka – or the sacred power of Deliverance. It is also the esoteric mantra of the Hindu and Buddhist Goddess Tara – the second of the ten great Goddesses in the path called Sri Vidya. Goddess Tara has sometimes been depicted as a beautiful female steering a boat. This is analogous of Her power in ferrying one across the ocean of Temporal Existence to the other shore of Spiritual Liberation.

The recitation of AUM has a toning and balancing effect on the physical, mental and emotional bodies. As one meditates on the Primal Sound, higher harmonics or octaves may be heard. To the meditator, they may sound like high pitched whistles which arrest the mind and transfer the attention to the higher levels of being within.

The Vibration of Mantra is most potent when the sound, the meaning and the practitioner become one. According to Vedic and Tantrik tradition, through constant repetition, either aloud or mentally, the practitioner transcends the universal laws of cause and effect ie transmigration or reincarnation.

From AUM, literally hundreds of thousands of mantras or divine vibrations have emerged. Ancient Vedic seers have spontaneously experienced their arising with a perfect understanding of their meaning and impact.

It is for this reason that each mantra is associated with a sage or rishi who initially revealed it to the world. It is also connected to a deity or subtle being, of which the mantra is considered to be the very sound form. Within the mantra is the bijakshara or seed of power, which releases its specific potency.

“Usually, the mantra is imparted to the seeker by an adept”. This is called Diksha or initiation. Traditionally the adept has realised the power or shakti of the mantra through protracted discipline and recitation.

The number of recitations is determined by the number of syllables within the mantra. Very often the recitation maybe 100, 200, 300 or even 500,000 over a specified period of time. This is called puracsharana – and is a powerful way of releasing the immense power latent in the sound.

When given directly to the seeker it is called Chaitanya, conscious or ‘alive’. In other words, the adept having practiced and realised the power within the vibration has brought conscious power to it. When the mantra is given by a genuine adept, there is no doubt about its impact and effect. It is usually immediate, transformative and permanent in its action.

The many varieties of mantra can be classified into the following categories:

ICON	POSITIVE MANTRAS	USE OF MANTRA
☮	Shanti or Peaceful Mantras	In general, these mantras are done purely out of unconditional love and spiritual self-development. The illusion of the material realms is lifted and evolution is accelerated through their use. Any fears that may be preventing progress are also removed through these mantras. are used to induce positive and spiritual vibrations within the practitioner or another. These mantras remove inhibitions psychologically, emotionally and spiritually.
👄	Mohan or Attraction	These mantras are used as a means of infatuation and self enhancement in worldly matters. This includes areas of profession, romance and social interaction. They further the prospects of the practitioner. In some cases the mantra may be used for controlling the will of another. In this case the motive of the practitioner determines its positive or negative value - this would then possibly fall under the Vaishikaran category.
👥	Akarshan - or distant Attraction	These mantras may be used to attract a person living in distant areas.

ICON	NEGATIVE MANTRAS	USE OF MANTRA
💃	Istamban or Immobilisation	In cases of opposition by enemies or counter-forces these vibrations are used to completely paralyse an opponent. They are very useful in case of litigation or harassment by an individual or group.
🙎	Uchchatan or Disturbance	These mantras can inflict damage, doubt and fear in the person they are aimed at. The mantra invokes a deity who will negatively disturb the recipient.
🚶	Jrambhan or Changen	This category is similar to Vaishikharan in that the practitioner may induce the recipient to act in the way that he desires. Hypnosis could be categorised as a Jrambhan technique in that the subject may be made to act out whatever is suggested.
💔	Vidiveshan or Division	In some instances it may be desirable to separate individuals. A man who continually abuses a woman in relationship should be removed. In a case such as this, the use of Vidiveshan mantra would bring positive results for the victim, his wife. The same mantras may be used by an unscrupulous individual to separate a perfectly happy couple. Again, motive plays a critical role in mantras of this sort.
♰	Maran or Death	These mantras are used solely to kill. There may not be any physical ailment in the victim and the death will be swift. Pointing the bone by Australian Aborigines is known to bring about death in the one to whom the bone is pointed. This could well be associated with some type of traditional 'maran' methods employing mantras and powerful suggestive techniques.

There are many aspects of life which cause trouble but do not respond favourably to conventional systems of treatment. There may be health problems, business or relationship conflicts. Perhaps a psychological disorder which is not amenable to treatment troubles the individual. It is in these extreme cases that people are prepared to try an unorthodox system of healing.

In Vedic Astrology, Jyotishis or astrologers ascertain the strength and weakness of planets at birth and are able to recommend appropriate techniques for alleviating those problems. Each planet has its unique mantra through which the practitioner may enhance that planet’s vibrations.

This isn’t unlike a vitamin supplement to increase a nutrient lacking within the physical system. In utilising the planetary vibrations we tap the ethereal and spiritual frequencies of the planet and begin to resonate in harmony with the energy of the presiding deities.

Navagraha Mantra

The Navagraha Mantra is a powerful tonic for those suffering general afflictions in life and wanting obstacles removed. Nava Graha means 9 planets and is said to neutralise the distorted frequencies of the planets.

Salutations to the mighty Sun, God, Moon, Mars and Mercury are offered. Obeisance to the grand preceptor Brihaspati (Jupiter), Venus the preceptor of the Asuras (demons) and planet Saturn. Also praises to the two Nodes of Karma, Rahu and Ketu.

Each of these nine cosmic principles, when invoked through this mantra, will confer those things associated with them eg Sun – health, Moon – peaceful mind, Mars – courage, energy, Jupiter – wealth and knowledge, Saturn – discipline and long life, Mercury – intelligence, communication, Rahu – material and professional benefits, Ketu – spiritual illumination and subtle powers.

For pure health, vigour and lustrous energy, the worship of the Sun through the Surya Mantra is invaluable in restoring depleted energy and lustre. It gives long life and mental brilliance. The mantras invoke the Sun.

In Hatha Yoga too, the practice of Solar Vitalisation using the exercise sequence of Sun Worship or Surya Namaskar is a powerful tonic for the body. The sequence also possesses 12 Solar mantras which may be synchronised with the postures to dynamically enhance the postures.

For diseases of a chronic and even life threatening nature, the great Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra of Lord Shiva has been known to ward off death in many cases. This mantra generates an enormously potent power of restorative value. It is taken from the famous Vedic Chant the Shree Rudram and is as follows –

OM TRYAMBAKAM YAJAY MAHAY SOO GHANDIM PUSHTI VARDHANAM. OORVAR ROO KAMIVA BHANDANAAN RITYOOR RA MUKSHEE MAM ROO TAA TA.

✻ Mantra Meaning ✻

We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva who is fragrant and nourishes all beings – may He liberate us from death for the sake of Immortality as the cucumber is severed from the creeper and its bondage.

Recitation of this great mantra daily 108 times or as many times as possible on your birthday is considered auspicious. Not only does it cure and save one from dreaded diseases but is known as a great protector against accidental or unnatural death.

GAYATRI MANTRA

Another powerful and traditional mantra into which most Hindu Brahmins are initiated is the Gayatri Mantra. It is said to be the destroyer of all afflictions and Karmas. It is very purifying and pacifying. It is also a Moksha Mantra or Vibration of Liberation for spiritual seekers. Its vibration is very sweet

OM BHUR BHUVAH SWAHA; TAT SVITUR VARENYAM BHARGO DEVASYA DHEEMAHI DHIYOH YA NO PRACHODAYAT

Let us meditate on Ishwara and His Glory who has created the Universe and who is fit to be glorified. Who is the remover of all blemishes and ignorance. May He enlighten our Intellect? In the more mundane spheres of life, there are also mantras and techniques for improving daily matters.

For increased intelligence, memory and power of speech, the Goddess Saraswati may be invoked using the mantra.

This mantra is also useful for writers, poets and linguists as Saraswati is said to regulate Vak, or speech whose organ is the tongue and whose power is vasya or fascination.

Should obstacles continually inhibit your ability to move forward in life, the recitation of the Ganesha Mantra may assist and will produce interesting results.

GODDESS MANTRA

For success in competition or any major undertaking, recite and study the effects.

OM SARVANABHAVAYA NAMAHA

✻ Mantra Meaning ✻

The Mantras of the 10 Goddesses is known as Sri Vidya. This is the true worship and practice of Shakti or Tantra Yoga. The mantras are highly esoteric and secret and can only be practised under the guidance of an expert after initiation is given. It’s normally given to the student in his right ear and then recited for a set period.

For effective results, the above mantras should be recited for at least 100,000 repetitions. Usually 1008 repetitions daily, minimum, yield the best results. A predominantly vegetarian diet, with a disciplined schedule of work, rest and play, early rising is prescribed.

Meditation pose

A still meditative pose is required for the mantras and vibrational energy to be activated.

Once the practitioner begins the practice he/she should complete a set number daily. Once the 100, 200 or 500,000 repetitions are complete, the sincere practitioner will no doubt have a glimpse of the presiding deity or rishi of the mantra. This is a signal that the vibrations are in fact giving rise to the Shakti or power and producing the desired effects.

During the practice, the mind should be calm and clear and undisturbed by any worldly concerns. The attention should be clearly focussed on the inner meaning of the vibration. The spot selected for practice should be clean, comfortable and harmonious to the mind. Only then can the practitioner gain the full benefits of this extraordinary path of vibrational therapy. Facing East or North is advised with the simplicity of life being most preferable.

Once you have completed the set number of repetitions, various benefits will be quite noticeable. These include the lightness of the body, the brightness of the eyes and clarity of the mind. Worldly and professional success may be one of the more pronounced fruits of the practice.

Through a continued renewal of self by persistent vibrational acceleration, the subtle forces of the human being are re-aligned and re-vitalised. Not only are the physical and mental spheres strengthened and purified, but the inner senses also become more refined. Such powers as clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience will become evident.

In the tradition of Mantra, it is a foregone conclusion that subtle powers will arise as a result of this type of inner purification. As the mantra continues to vibrate within, the Chakras or energy vortexes are fully activated and balanced. The upper centres such as the throat, brow and crown relate to the higher occult powers hidden in man and can be tapped through some of the mantras given.

In relation to the categories of mantras mentioned earlier, it should be stressed that any mantras used for nefarious means and selfish ends, especially Maran, Istamban and Vaishikharan mantras will inevitably resound back on the user employing the vibration. This will inevitably result in fear, emotional complications, disease and even death. This matter shouldn’t be taken lightly.

The power of sound in modern science and technology is well documented and has been used in industrial as well as military operations. If sonic guns and other devices can be used to demolish buildings, what of the infinite power of AUM or its feminine counterpart HREEM, the Cosmic, active and Creative Power?

DIGITAL YANTRA

Planets are also represented in numeric yantras or mandalas.

The practise of mantras can be further elaborated by the Yantra or visual representation of the sound. This aids the practitioner by engaging the sense of sight whilst the mantra is being recited. The visual diagrams or spiritual ‘circuit boards’ are in fact conduits of cosmic energy and work in tandem with the mantra being recited.

A case in point would be the great Shree Chakra or Shree Yantra. It is known to many as the multi triangled Yantra of the Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari (Goddess Laksmi too is invoked through the same Yantra).

While visualising the bindu or central point, the mantra OM SREEM MAHATRIPURA SUNDARYAI NAMAHA or OM SHREEM MAHALAKSMYAI NAMAHA may be recited, 108 or 1008 times daily, contemplating the Shakti or power desired – In the first case of Labita – divine beauty, spiritual wealth, love and peace. Through Laksmi, material wealth, abundance and profit are realised.

These yantras may be purchased commercially but seem to have little or no value unless prepared under strict guidelines by qualified Tantrik practitioners. The efficacy of mantra and vibrational healing also relates to the time of the day and year when the activity is commenced. Different phases of the Moon, Sun and planets determine the fruits of the activity of the mantra.

A Kashmir Shaivite scripture succinctly describes the true inner meaning of mantra and the real objective to be gained by the soul seeking liberation. It says ‘The Godward Turned Mind is Mantra’. The mind becomes that which it contemplates. The vibrations and resonances of the images, concepts and feelings within us produce our realities. This accounts for the growing body of evidence suggesting that disease and ageing may indeed have their root causes in those subtle vibrations called thought.

As the Shiva Sutras say, in other words, the contemplation of the Divine, leads to a divine spiritual state, as do the pondering of the meanings inherent in mantras. Our association of consciousness with their vibrations produce radical change. Conversely, our association with negative emotions and ideas produces just that – disease and distress.

As a focussing tool, the subtle vibrations of mantras redirect our attention to higher pathways for the human soul. At the same time we acknowledge the essential requirements of organic existence and can still satisfy and enjoy those needs too.

Food, shelter and conjugal happiness needn’t be obliterated from our lives. As the mantra delivers satisfaction and inner contentment, faith grows and the mind is more able to focus. The beauty and appeal of this universal and spiritual approach to healing through Mantra, Yantra and Tantra are that it is quite acceptable to enjoy everything in this life as well as the next

MARRIAGE AND RELATIONSHIPS

Marriage and relationships are an important aspect of our lives. When Venus, the ruling planet for emotional and marital satisfaction is weak life becomes distressing. You lose the capacity for joy. Sharing life with someone is a great thing but often disharmony and difference of opinion create separation and heartache. Mantras to Venus and Friday fasts are advised to improve conjugal happiness.

In the matter of career, if Saturn is weak it lessens one’s discipline and restricts achievement. For this reason, it is important to empower Saturn with the use of the planetary vibrations. Fasting on Saturdays is also recommended if you have the willpower.

In some texts, it is said that Saturn may be appeased through the feeding of old or destitute men on a Saturday with salty products. Some of the measures mentioned do indeed sound strange but there is an age-old and time tested authority behind these statements and in practice, they do seem to work.

The ideal goal of astrology, both in the eastern and western traditions is to provide a clear and practical guideline for our lives. Vedic astrology offers a framework by which we may enhance our awareness and spiritual growth through contact with the inner Light of our heart.

Coronavirus Transit Chart — In January 2020 the coronavirus news broke. Here is a horoscope wheel for the 20th January 2020, the approximate period the media announced its discovery in Wuhan China..

In this article, we will look at the natural Zodiac and what’s happening with the coronavirus. Here’s the Western-style astrology chart using tropical whole signs to analyse the connections between the planets and the outbreak of the virus.

The question has come to mind whether this disease simply jumped the species barrier or was fabricated. There are some people online asking whether there was some bio-military agenda behind the outbreak. Others ridicule that idea shouting that this line of thinking is simply a conspiracy theory. Leaving aside conspiracies, let’s take a look at what astrology and the current horoscope has to say about it.

In this chart, which you see here, Mars the ruler of the ascendant of the natural horoscope and Jupiter the ruler of the ninth house and co-ruler of the 12th house combine in Capricorn with Saturn and Pluto. The South Node or planet of past karma is also in this area of the horoscope. Apart from the karmic implications, the recent conjunction of Saturn and Pluto is extremely potent and is an indicator of events beyond our control. We are certainly seeing this in the current global circumstance emerging.

It was just around this conjunction that the news of the Wuhan province sickness was announced. On Jan 30, 2020 the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee which is a branch of the World Health Organisation made a public statement saying that this was an international public health emergency. Looking at the horoscope for that date we see that Saturn had just passed the conjunction by a degree, if that. In other words, just as this virus was emerging these two planets were doing their thing.

There are standard texts which describe the meaning of different planetary combinations. One that I find very accurate is that of Reinhold Ebertin and his Cosmobiological system. This is a German form of astrology incorporating midpoint analysis. The technique seems to translate very well practically against hundreds and hundreds of charts. Although I am a Vedic astrologer by default, I think we have to incorporate many different systems to arrive at the truth. This is one such system that definitely has great merit and I highly recommend it to any practising astrologer as a standard text.

In his book, the Combination of Stellar Influences, and written outlines combinations of planets and in particular the Saturn-Pluto duo is formidable indeed. Listen to what he has to say about that: “Hard labour, cruelty. The negative implications of this combination are quite hard and unfeeling disposition also told heartedness, severity, the tendency to violence, fanatical adherence to one’s principles once they’ve been adopted. A martyr.”

Along with the psychological correspondences and sociological issues he mentions the biological relationship of these two planets. Here is what he has to say:

“Organic underdevelopment (absence of testicles by descensus, infantile organs, organic gardening or calcification processes). The following medical observations have been found: in the case of lithopaedion (i.e. dried up or calcified features in the maternal body the mother ….).”

“Sociological correspondence deeply searching scientists, reactionaries and violent people.” This is the probable manifestation on a sociological level is the thing I find interesting is this: “the application of force or of compulsion, self-destructive energy. The loss of one’s fortune or possessions.”

In this work, he also incorporates combinations of planets including the following: “Saturn-Pluto-Jupiter: plainness and simplicity, excessive modesty, the inclination to sacrifice oneself others, religious and social fanaticism, difficulties caused through illness.”

He goes on to say:

“Saturn-Pluto-nodes: the misery of the masses, common suffering shared with many people together”

This sociological correspondence has growing relevance to what is being seen in the media now. I was only watching a documentary on Australia’s credible ABC channel. It showed people being forcibly made to take coronavirus tests. Police in China are going from door-to-door enforcing some very heavy handed laws aimed at protecting the populace.

When you see them welding residential doors shut you can realise how everyday people are finding it harder and harder to reconcile civic liberties and safety. In this scenario we clearly see the Saturn and Pluto combination showing reflecting this forceful energy, brute force, also expressed by Ebertin as ‘force majeure ‘.

Coronavirus and social unrest

This violence is also playing out in supermarkets worldwide where shelves are now empty. A shortage of food, day-to-day stocks and other basic necessities including toilet paper is creating panic buying. This would have seemed laughable just a few short weeks ago. Now, everywhere you look, people are panicking, there is fear, and people are stockpiling just to be sure that they have enough to keep them going. Now, there are lockdowns of whole cities and countries. Italy has pretty much shut down.

My understanding of the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto, especially in the sign of Capricorn is one that is going to bring about changes based upon the material values we hold as individuals, and as a race. The earth signs have a lot to do with security as well, not just money earned. When there is a clearly threatening disease epidemic, and that is the very existence of people, then natural instinct kicks in. Self-preservation is the mode and we see that en masse.

This aspect has to do with the lockdown. Being deprived of liberties, basic essentials of life, freedom to move etc brings us back down to earth. We start to realise and appreciate the simple necessities of life. Saturn and Pluto indicate some forced scenario. This is an imposed type of re-evaluation.

That re-evaluation is also now extending to the financial markets and stock exchanges around the globe. It centres of self-preservation. Survival will always win hands down against profitability. Yes, the Saturn Pluto combination is not only instrumental in the deaths of thousands of people through this virus but now extending its tentacle-like impact on our money markets and central values as well. We have a tendency to take things for granted. These intense planetary cycles are difficult but can also help us eliminate what is no longer useful. This crisis will bring us back to our core values.

As a race, we’ve drifted away from the inner spiritual core values to your materialism. That can be seen in the way we treat our environment. Let’s face it, being a murdering race historically, we are prone to killing ourselves in the tens if not hundreds of millions. Why would we have any respect for the environment when we don’t respect ourselves as living, breathing beings?

Saturn is the natural significator of death. Pluto is the natural significator of elimination, transformation and regeneration. Saturn-Pluto combinations indicate circumstances that are out of our control, forced upon us. We like to think that we have a high degree of free will and self-determination. Crises, especially global ones like this, drive the point home very clearly that we certainly do not have as much control as we think. Mother Nature can be punishing in her retribution.

It is evident that the coronavirus is now sweeping the world like an unstoppable hurricane. The immediate implications are scary. People are terrified. It’s only natural to want to preserve your health and life as well as those of your family. It’s under these current circumstances that you realise how much you have and that gratitude should at least emerge from that appreciation.

Unfortunately, when people’s very existence is at stake they will do anything to survive. Now that supermarkets, communities, cities and even countries are shutting down, we don’t want to be negative about the consequences of this on a societal level, however, one human nature in this instinct for survival takeover, people do primal things which they ordinarily wouldn’t do. Good news and the role of the media

If you look at the example horoscope, the recent retrograde Mercury, ruler of the sixth house of disease, has been transiting the 11th house. It only recently went stationary, then direct. It will shortly move into the 12th house of hospitals. In that same position, we see the Sun, ruler of the fifth house of children with Neptune. A genetic of the virus may start to see children being more affected by it.

Shortly there will be some new communication of this fact. At the same time there can be uplifting news that there will be breakthroughs in the treatment of it. Right now, while Mercury is in the trine aspect to the North Node in the fourth house let’s hope for some good news.

The coming month requires very delicate handling of communication, public relations and media. It is definitely a need for the media to be much more responsible in its approach to what’s happening. You’ll note that the transit of Mercury will hit Neptune and then the Sun. The Neptune Mercury combination is notorious for next or fuzzy communication. Miscommunication about the right to seek is also possible under that specific combination. There was a waning Moon now and within the first week of March, the Moon is it debilitation sign of Scorpio in its dark phase. No doubt people’s minds will be feeling sombre.

There is a harrowing aspect coming and that is the one of Mars coming to the position of firstly Jupiter at 22° that happens in the third week of March as well around the 20th around the same time that Dark Moon makes contact with these planets. That connection with Saturn and Pluto will bring some additional hysteria to the masses. It’s at that point that Mercury is going to make contact with the 12th house.

The ingress of March 21 will be an important one this year. The ingress is when the Sun transits into the tropical Sun sign of Aries. There will be a great deal of movement in the financial markets. There are times when the market swings upwards, and wildly so. It is also likely to do the opposite and sometimes even more crazily. There is talk of the downturn being so severe that it may rival the great depression of 1929.

New Moon Coming in Aries

That new Moon taking place on the 24th is also in a very hard aspect of the South node in Capricorn. This shows a need for retrospective reflection. A reconsideration of how we’ve been doing things as a race.

The new Moon this month takes place March 24. It occurs in the sign of Aries. I’d like to think that that comes with some heartening news is the new Moon in the angle in the natural sign spring and beginnings; Aries usually shows a new start.

Mars hits 28° of Capricorn on 28 March. It’s in orb of the conjunction to Saturn and sits right on the midpoint between Pluto and Saturn. This midpoint carries the combined influence of Mars, Saturn and Pluto. This combination is also outlined in Ebertin’s Combination of Stellar Influences. If what he says is correct, you can expect increased social unrest and violence surrounding the coronavirus alert.

This doesn’t only relate to the ferocity of nature, which has already resulted in the thousands of deaths from the disease. It also relates to the brute force and violence of this Pluto and Saturn combination. Here is what Everton has to say-“Brutality, assault or violence, ruthlessness. The necessity to fight for one’s existence or life, maltreatment.”

You only have to ask yourself, if a government had to fast track the building of two or three hospitals within a matter of weeks, that there was obviously not enough infrastructures prepared for this previously. Such ad hoc, knee-jerk reactions to epidemics or even pandemics like this clearly reveal the fact that governments are putting the people first. But politics is another story.

Finding a vaccine for the coronavirus is seen by the eighth ruler Mars and also Pluto. The positive news is that this conjunction, as violent as it is, indicates a protracted, concentrated approach by the medical fraternity to find some sort of vaccine or cure.

In some systems of Vedic astrology, the 10th house is given governance over doctors and medical science. Mars and Pluto certainly indicate that and with Jupiter’s benign influence, the last few days of March and the beginning of April offer some promise or hope that there is indeed a breakthrough in the treatment of this dreaded disease.

How are Courage, Determination and Success Seen from Your Astrology Horoscope

Everyone wants to be successful. They want to have a fulfilling life with a profitable career, satisfactory relationships and a family. They pretty much want all their ambitions fulfilled. The reality of life is far from fulfilling… for most. Most of us plan, create lists, study and get all hyped-up at motivational talks. Spiritual seminars and other academic forums are also used as ‘leverage’. We tend to believe the more we learn and understand, the more it will help us connect with the right people. All this is hoped will result in greater success.

In astrology, success is shown from the strength of the horoscope at the exact moment of birth. Success is shown by the location of the planet ruling the rising sign, the Sun. More importantly, the 10th house of the horoscope and its ruler, relate to the potential for success and brilliance in life. Few stop to consider that underlying any success is the courage or fearlessness required to take the appropriate steps to achieve a specific goal.

The third house of the horoscope tells all about one’s desire, and the ability to actively seek what one wishes to achieve. If the 10th house is strong but the third house is weak, they can indeed achieve success but it will more or less be stumbled upon or happen as a consequence of luck rather than any wilful or directed action to that end.

Success is not only based upon courage, however. Trust is an extremely important component of having the courage to take those first steps. Very often, we have bad experiences and our attempts to achieve something significant remain unfulfilled. If you’ve fallen flat on your face, you aren’t exactly endowed with the faith required for any future attempts, are you? Therefore, faith that Providence will carry you through and provide you success is an extremely important ingredient.

Another factor in success is perseverance. As Thomas Edison once asserted, it wasn’t the success of his achievement in creating the electric lightbulb that was the extraordinary thing. Rather, the prior 10,000 failed experiments were the greater success according to him. In other words, if this story and many others like it are anything to go by, a person is only a failure if they give up without making repeated attempts to achieve their heart’s yearning.

Finally, a carefully crafted plan which can sometimes take years to refine is a must. Once the plan has been written down, you can commence working that plan. As the saying goes-plan your work, then work your plan.

Having courage to pursue what you love, and to do what makes you feel alive and passionate is not something everyone is blessed with. Your sincere endeavours are most often undermined by subconscious fears. This is where astrology comes to the rescue and reveals those areas in your life that are hampering your efforts.

Bright, planets such as the Sun now, Mars and Jupiter ruling or connected with the third house augment your success. Any hard aspect to these planets will naturally indicate likely challenges. But why fear challenges? Look at the number of failed rocket launches that Elon musk and Space X have attempted for him to achieve his dream of venturing out into space and populating planets for the future posterity of humanity!

Any of the malefic planets such as the Sun, Mars, ill associated Mercury and a waning Moon, along with the North or South node, function extremely well in the third house of the horoscope. Not all are endowed the same measure of courage. Mars is more vocal and physical in its manifestation than say, the Moon which is inherently softer by nature. But any of these in their own way promise success especially during their allotted cycle or when in transit they cast auspicious aspects. Having any connection to the 6th, 9th, 10th or 11th houses greatly amplifies the opportunity for success in one’s chosen field. A clever astrologer can pinpoint the timings and even sometimes the exact dates when these upward movements in career and life achievements are likely to occur.

The 11th house of your horoscope shows the promise and fulfilment of those desires. Desire is the fuel for any ambitious plan – practical, emotional or spiritual. Unfortunately, due to cultural and societal upbringing, we generally only apply the term success to practical, professional and financial ideals. In fact, such things as marital happiness, sporting, hobby interests and spiritual activities require the same measure of courage, discipline, intent and planning as any material goal.

Astrology is, in a sense, a form of destiny engineering as I call it. It’s through this mechanism of looking at the horoscope, seeing what the inherent value and strength is that we gain greater insight into a person’s potential. Along with the challenges that are prevalent in the chart we can see exactly how to travel the straightest path between A and B to achieve those desired goals. There are remedial measures that can be utilised to counteract the influence of obstructive planets. This is especially important when hard planetary aspects adversely affect the 10th house of profession. This segment of the horoscope is also referred to as the house of karma. By karma, we not only mean the law of cause and effect and its operation but also karma as the general field of activity, action and diligent pursuit of any ambition.

Those challenges are more easily dealt with if there is additional strength in the third house or to its ruler. If you lack courage and are timid and empty of any sort of self-confidence, how can you possibly achieve anything in life? The primary job of the astrologer is to firstly see whether or not you are capable of achieving success. This must be promised in your horoscope.

As mentioned earlier, some people stumble upon success, win the lottery or have huge empires handed down to them through inheritance and the like. Unfortunately, many of them lose everything given to them. It’s a well-known fact that those who win lotteries often commit suicide or again, end up penniless because of a lack of discipline or knowledge in how to handle such large sums of money.

Looking at your horoscope it’s necessary see in what way your third house can be strengthened. What is the condition of your third house? What are the planets that are going to give you the requisite strength, courage and trust to move forward confidently and to take those calculated risks that are often necessary to achieve a level of success that the average person is not willing or able to achieve?Let’s take a look at the horoscope of someone who has achieved success and look at the third house of the horoscope. The following chart is that of Mike Tyson the youngest boxing champion in history. (The chart has been prepared using a western tropical format with a whole house system).

In his birth chart, the ruler of the third house happens to be one of the same as the ruler of the 10th house, i.e. Venus. Look at Venus the planet of courage placed in the 11th house of fulfilment of desires. It’s not far from his North node or planet of karma.

There’s no doubt that his desire, courage and intention was linked to his sense of purpose and destiny. Yes,Mike Tyson was indeed destined for great things. Having the ruler of the third house simultaneously ruling the 10th in the 11th of fulfilment is a very fortunate combination. The 10th and 11th houses linked to ones profession make all sorts of amazing wishes come true. The fact that he lost most of his fortune is another matter which can be seen from the Sun and Jupiter in the 12th house of expenditure.

Ordinarily wouldn’t think that the planet of art, music and culture would be so prominent in the chart of a boxer. If you look carefully, you’ll see that Mars and Venus are both located in the same sign of Gemini and Mars also has the strong square aspect of Saturn, which rules his sixth house of work. It is placed in the eighth house of death. This empowers him to conquer his enemies. You also see a similar and intimate link of Saturn and Mars in the horoscope of Muhammad Ali.

And here we have the horoscope of the first man to land on of the Moon, Neil Armstrong. The ruler of the third house, the Sun is boldly placed in its own sign and house indicating the sheer courage possessed by this man.

The sextile aspect of Mars, another planet that naturally endows one with boldness, is in a favourable sextile aspect to the Sun.

It’s interesting to note that the air sign of Gemini’s rising that much of his work related to air travel. The ruler rising sign, Mercury is very closely associated with Neptune, which rules the idealistic nature of his work.

Jupiter, the co-ruler of his work, is aspected by Saturn, which rules all things hidden being in the eighth house.

Courage comes in different forms and Martin Luther King exhibited that socially and politically by fighting for black civil rights. He achieved his ends but paid the final price. The Moon rules the third house of courage and is closely associated with his ascendant ruler Venus.

Saturn, which co-rules his professional activities, is in a hard aspect to the Moon indicating the challenges he had in fulfilling his ideals. Note also the basement of transformative Pluto in the third house indicating someone who never gives up.

By looking at the third house of your horoscope, you can see the type of strength and courage that you possess. Understanding Astrology of Psychology….

Most people are familiar with astrology as a means of forecasting day-to-day events and possibly giving a superficial view of your personality. Most people identify with the 12 tribes and feel a kinship with people born under the same Zodiac star sign.

Although astrology offers you novel and entertaining views of human nature, few are conversant with the fact that that it is also a very deep and serious psychological tool. This view is supported by psychological giants like Carl Jung who were also great exponents of astrology. They placed credibility in its ability to delve far more deeply into the human condition. They understood the correlation between these complex human emotional states and the planetary positions at the time of birth.

First, You Must Acknowledge the Problem

It’s fascinating that if you broach a troubling psychological issue with someone they immediately take exception to it. People’s egos react badly to these sorts of problems being addressed directly. Astrology, however, has a unique way of objectifying these problems and placing you in a position of “observer” rather than being the one who is in the line of fire. It then becomes easier looking at the horoscope. It gives you a chance to look at issues from a bird’s eye perspective. Not only that, you can study how each of these different conditions is influenced by a multitude of factors without necessarily being caught up in it all.

One by one those causative factors can be broken down. First, it is necessary to identify, and then analyse which specific areas of life have been affected. Finding an appropriate remedy, solution or course of action is imperative but often not all addressed by many astrologers. As far as they are concerned, predicting the future and taking the cash is all their jobs about. But by looking at astrology from a remedial perspective can help direct the person to more meaningful integration of these seemingly disparate parts of his or her nature.

It’s always necessary to look at how well-integrated a person’s internal life is with their external presentation. For the most part, a different persona is assumed to present to the world rather than the one you really are. That’s just human nature. We all want to be seen in the best light. Perhaps as is the case for many, there’s an underlying insecurity about being accepted. The sense of rejection is too much and therefore the masks used are almost like the makeup or clothes that are put on every day before going out into the larger world.

This mask can be clearly seen from:

Astrology and Examples of Planets Related to Psychological Disorders

Let’s say for argument’s sake a person is born with the sign of Cancer rising. This Zodiac sign is ruled by the emotional, moody and changeable Moon. Now, if the Moon is well associated with positive planets like Jupiter and Mercury it will create a buoyant sort of emotional nature that is generous and well-balanced. On the other hand, if the Moon is weak, placed in adverse sectors such as the 6th, 8th or 12th house with the influence of Saturn, the Nodes or even Mars, it simply doesn’t function well. It brings out the darker emotional traits of the individual. Identifying which of these planets predominates at birth will show you how the individual temperament is skewed. It will offer you a broader understanding of the formative factors and early influences that shape personality.

Let’s assume in a second example, that the Moon, weak in the 12th house is associated with Saturn. Also, Venus ruling the fourth sector for Cancer ascendant is in the sign of Capricorn. This would mean that Venus is at a right angle to both the Moon and Saturn. Being the ruler of the early part of life, mother and those formative nurturing qualities we can expect a problem stemming from these earlier childhood issues. Most often than not, they are unconscious in nature and eventually resurface to play out in many different relationships later on.

The Venus and Saturn square or 90° angle, is often found in the horoscopes of people who yearn for love but may not have been given the affection and emotional support at the outset of life. Building self-esteem will, therefore, be one of the main challenges for this individual. The responsibility of the astrologer is not only a point that out but to help the individual come to terms with and if necessary, seek a wider range of therapies such as psychology or psychiatric assistance to solve these issues.

There are so many other different if not, innumerable permutations that are possible. If for example, a different ascendant says Sagittarius, has the Moon and Saturn in Scorpio in the 12th house. This is a fixed sign and may refer to an inability to express the problems they have and which underlie their personality. This will be an even greater challenge for the astrologer or psychologist. The Scorpio temperament runs deep so indicates that the placement of the Moon in its debilitation deepens the rift with the maternal or early life-carers. It produces a state of depression and in the worst case scenario, despair. Depending on the other planets colouring this, the way this is resolved can clearly be seen through identifying those planets and analysing the nuances. Each case is unique and with the right astrologer, astrology can help you in your life.

Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Multiple Personality Disorders

Most of the traditional psychological problems many of us are confronted with can be seen in the play of planets in a horoscope. One of the most prevalent in modern society is an ever alarming rate of depression. Depression is simply repressed anger. Unfortunately, most people take the advice of their local GP rather than having any serious analysis done. Biochemical and hormonal tests by a qualified specialist are needed to confirm whether or not they indeed have a clinical problem. Unless a physiological basis can be found for this, it isn’t advisable to use pharmaceutical medications to overcome the problem. In fact, my understanding is that many people struggle to come off those drugs and can, in the long run, worsen the condition they have. Naturally, there are people who do indeed, have some sort of chemical imbalance and in those instances, I recommend that they listen to the advice of their qualified practitioner.

On the other hand, many, not all, who suffer from these state of depression or the “blues” need an adjustment in attitude and lifestyle. In particular, more exercise and a radical adjustment to their diet can yield incredibly good results. The effect of food on one’s hormonal balance, mental and emotional states can’t be overestimated. By working with your astrologer/life coach to regulate these areas of your life an immense transformation can take place. Supplementing diet with high doses of vitamins especially the B group can work wonders. But I am not a medical practitioner so you should always verify these general statements so that a qualified practitioner can tailor specifically for your individual needs.

I often recommend the use of a dietary diary, as I call it. Taking note of each and every morsel of food, drink and other substances ingested and noting that is imperative. By correlating different states of mind and moods with the food taken, you’ll see connections which can exacerbate the problem. In a fairly brief period, of say 1 to 2 months, the foods that are aggravating your problem can be discovered. Apart from your mental and emotional states, your physical well-being should also be set for a pretty nice lift in well-being.

Esoteric and Occult Perspectives on Mental Health and Remedies

There are mysterious states such as bipolar, schizophrenia, psychosis, multiple personality disorders etc. Astrology can also pinpoint at least in a general way, some of these problems and what sort of initial remedies or approaches can be taken. The job of the astrologer isn’t to assume the role of a doctor or psychiatrist. That should be made very clear. But whether you believe it or not, some of these states are in fact not necessarily covered by the dietary, genetic or even hormonal imbalances often associated with such problems.

There are some ancient Scriptures such as Prashna Marga which discuss the subtle or occult causes of mental and emotional disease. Some of these include karmic blemishes, black magic and other forms of distortion of the electromagnetic energies around a person. The astrologer should also be well-versed in how to determine the difference between naturally occurring or genetically based psychological disorders and other esoteric or occult sources.

In Prashna Marga it discusses very unusual sorts of causes of these problems. To the modern thinking person, it might seem laughable. As an example, based upon the favourable and unfavourable Karma of one’s past existence, such things as afflictions to the family deity, misappropriation of other people’s property, wrath of the serpent God etc may be causes for mental ill-health. Parental curses or curses from the elders and troubles from ghosts and other elemental beings, which apparently there are 14 different categories of spirits that can cause evil eye, astral attack and so on and so forth.

The modern astrologer must be careful

to analyse any of these potential sources of psychological distortion and present them in a way that is appealing to modern sensibilities without scaring the client.

Depressive states of mind are usually covered by the planet Saturn and its adverse aspects to the ascendant, the ascendant ruler, the Moon or Sun or even Mercury. Mars on the other hand which is an aggressive planet is likely to be involved with issues of anger, resentment and violence. Schizophrenia may be associated with Mercury, a convertible planet and adverse influences to some of the dual signs such as Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius.

Compulsive disorders are often found to be associated with the earth signs and in particular meticulous and finicky Virgo. Taurus and Capricorn are also fixed signs and tend towards obsessive behaviour as long as other combinations of planets support that.

Sexual Obsessions And Addictions

Sexual obsessions and addictions can be seen through the association of the planet Neptune with such signs as Scorpio, Pisces and Cancer. And there are many other combinations as well. Each and every individual is unique. Sometimes we see that the expression of these planetary forces takes shape over time with events triggering some of those astrological combinations. As an example, I had the opportunity to travel to Cessnock jail many years ago to meet and interview Australia’s longest-serving child serial killer, Peter McDonald. He died a couple of years ago but I recorded the session and was able to delve into the mind of a psychopath and ask him how and why he thought this happened to him.

I was quite shocked to learn that he grew up in a wealthy family in Europe before moving to Australia. He was educated and became an accomplished pianist displaying great talent. In his late teens, he joined the army and it was during this period of his life that he was violently raped and beaten by the company Sgt. He told me that it was a defining moment in his life – the before and after point. This was the event that triggered his homosexual latencies and violence towards children, also he said. He was known as the knick-knack man. He would rape young boys, kill them and dismember their private parts.

What was surprising was his soft-spoken and demure nature. He was very shy from my impressions. Getting back to the point of these latent tendencies in the horoscope, we see in this case the triggering mechanism was the violent rape while he was in the army. Those events can be seen in the horoscope which is why there is such a contradiction in terms of personality types. Sometimes a person is happy for a long period of time only to find some traumatic event triggering these other aspects of their nature. That too is seen in the horoscope. Only timing is the differentiating factor. It’s this fascinating research and investigation into the horoscope that allows us to explore the what and also when these psychological issues are likely to arise. By the same token, we are also able to see when and if these problems are likely to be cured.

Along with the first, seventh and tenth houses of the horoscope, the fourth house represents one’s mother and is the foundation of your horoscope. The signifying ruler of this fourth house is the Moon which is also representative of one’s mind and the link, although not immediately obvious, make sense when you realise that the formative years of our lives and how our minds develop are indeed mainly attributed to the quality of the relationship we have with our mothers. That time of year has come when we celebrate motherhood, honouring the role mothers play in our lives and in the human story, and the qualities associated with motherhood. It’s a time to celebrate the feminine principle and recognize the unique biological role of the mother and how this connects with our cultural conception of femininity. The mother plays a unique physiological role in nurturing a child during pregnancy, and this nurturing role and uniquely close bond naturally tends to play out beyond the birth of the child and through their infancy. The bond between a mother and child is the stuff of legends.

While the modern Mother’s Day holiday can be traced back to anti-war activists in the late 19th century USA, motherhood and its associated qualities have been celebrated across cultures throughout recorded history. This year, Americans are estimated to spend $25 billion over the Mother’s Day celebration. While capitalism may enjoy this phenomenon, it did not create it as the role of this holiday in our culture traces back far deeper into our history. It reveals something of our deeper nature that we feel a collective desire to show gratitude and reverence for mothers, motherhood and those associated nurturing qualities.

The qualities associated with motherhood and femininity include compassion, unconditional love, empathy and a desire to nurture and protect. These are not only qualities of mothers but aspects of ourselves that we express and experience in our personal relationships and life generally. We can also see these principles in action at different conceptual levels. For instance, we see the nurturing aspect of a community towards its members. For this reason, cultures throughout history have abstracted out the principles associated with motherhood and femininity. They have encapsulated them in deities or symbols which can then be used to explore and discuss the ideas, to educate and guide spiritual development.

There is a rich cultural tradition of associating femininity with water. The physical properties and behaviour of water can be seen to symbolically mirror the accepting, receptive and total embrace of the mother. Along with many traditional reasons for this connection, modern science even indicates to us that the ocean may be a mother to all life on earth and that our own evolutionary heritage comes from ocean life. This fits nicely with the existing symbolic framework and only serves to strengthen and enrich it.

This symbolic connection is an important one in the astrological tradition, where the Moon is associated with water and the feminine principle. The water sign of Cancer is seen to strongly embody the nurturing qualities of motherhood. We look at water and the qualities associated with femininity when symbolically breaking down a chart to form our interpretation. In the same way, we look at the other elements and the qualities associated with the masculine principle, such as assertiveness and intellect.

The purpose of making a symbolic distinction between the archetypes of masculine and feminine is not to assign one to men and the other to women. Instead, the two principles are seen as a duality, two halves of a whole which contrast and balance one another. This is the Yin and Yang of Taoism. Every individual embodies within themselves and their actions the qualities that both of these principles symbolise. We express some degree of balance between the two in every conceivable context. Examples of that are between thought and emotion, intellect and imagination, assertion and submission, resistance and acceptance, boundaries and openness.

The masculine and feminine principles are not just symbolic categories relating to people, but qualities that permeate nature. The feminine, for example, is a symbolic thread that we can follow through a range of diverse territory, from fluid dynamics, gravity and magnetism, to human emotion and compassion. By recognising these archetypal structures and ideas within ourselves and also in nature we can use this symbolic language to apply these principles we discover in nature, to ourselves.

We are able to apply insights about how things find balance in nature to our own personal development and behaviour. The many cultural and religious symbols of these principles exist not only to acknowledge their existence but also to help orient us towards manifesting them in a healthy and balanced way. Ultimately, everything is about balance. Water is essential to our survival, but with too much of it, we can drown.

In paganism, the rich symbolism of water is encapsulated in the image of the Cup. A cup can be seen to resemble a womb, and so the cup was used to represent fertility, gestation and intuition, among other qualities associated with the feminine in pagan cultures. This symbolic thread continued, though somewhat evolved into Christianity as the chalice holding the blood of Christ.

Some branches of Christianity also deify the feminine and motherly principles in their reverence for Mother Mary, the mother of Christ. From another cultural vantage point, this may take the form of reverence for the goddess Sophia. She is more commonly represented in modern times as Gaia or Mother Earth. Our beautiful planet and the life it has cultivated is a mother that we all share, and should all have reverence for.

A day like Mother’s Day invites us to focus on love, to give attention to these aspects of life and show our gratitude to the women in our lives who embody them. Mother’s Day invites us above all to be loving and remember the nurturing and healing power that sharing our love with others has both for others and for ourselves. Mother’s Day reminds us to value our family bonds and to put into words every once in a while that love and respect which can easily go unspoken.
